TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE A SWEET LACE BEANIE WITH HAIRY DETAILS
If you are a handicraft, with the basic experience of knitting and crochet, you can make this sweet beanie yourself. You will need a circular needle, a crochet hook, 2 balls of knitting yarn and some decorative hairy 'fake fur' yarn in the same color. It is not difficult, for knitting, you need to know just the purl & knit stitches and for the crochet: chain stitch, single crochet & double crochet.
Knit a tension/gauge first, to measure the number of stitches you will need, use the number of stitches (must be divisible by 2 and 4!) to come to approximately 40 cm (15.7 inches) of size. You can make it bigger or smaller depending on the size of the head. Start with the border, use the circular knitting needle, knit rib 10 cm (3.9 inches) in length.
Then follow with knitting, use a pattern with an openwork you like, there is a lot to find on the web. For instance look around at the video tutorials from New Stitch a Day. Hereby you alternate 4 rows of the decorative hairy/fluffy yarn. When you reach a total length of 7.9 inches (20 cm) you can start the crochet part. Take the first slip knot on your crochet hook. Then make a single crochet with the next slip knot and finish the row. After this you can to finish the top with some nice crochet stitches; decrease all the way, till you reach the top. Not sure you can make it?
Don't worry, I wrote the whole story down. If you are interested in the written pattern of the left white hat on the photo all above:

You can also make your own leg warmers, seen on the catwalk as shown in this photo. Make first a trial patch with a stretchy knitting pattern, for instance, *2 knit, 2 purls* and measure the number of stitches needed. (The total amount has to be divisible by 2 and 4!). Put the number of stitches on a circular needle and knit the leg warmers.
Stay warm and motivated
